Dear friends and partners,
This month is full of grief and pain for United With Ukraine, as we lost one of our own in the battle for Bakhmut. Yana Rykhlitska, one of our volunteers on the ground and a combat medic, was killed while evacuating wounded from the besieged city. Her medical vehicle was shelled by Russian mortars.
Yana’s parents refused to take any financial support for themselves and called on all those willing to donate to the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in memory of their daughter. She was the only child in the family. Yana would be so proud of their decision. She fought so hard for Ukraine’s victory and her fight lives on in her family and friends all over the world.
We know Yana would want us to continue her fight for saving lives of the Ukrainians and step up our aid to prevent the death of others. We are determined to intensify our efforts and do the impossible so that thousands can survive this bloody war.
This devastating loss reminds us how deadly this war is and how we have to keep doing our best to save as many people as we can.
Your ongoing support in January and February made it possible for United With Ukraine to order $27,354.65-worth of robust medical technologies that save precious lives!
United With Ukraine ordered the vital medical devices for hospitals and emergency care units:
- 1 low-flow suction medical aspirator FLEU - $1,513.68
- 1 turbine-based lung ventilator Zoll Z Vent series 731 - $6,832.70
- 1 neonatal transport incubator - $19,008.27
The low-flow suction medical aspirator is a suction machine used to remove mucus, blood, and other bodily fluids from a patient. This equipment is vital during medical procedures, especially in cases of heavy injuries. Doctors are very grateful to our donors for this very important aid!
Transporting newborn infants requires an environment that will keep them safe and warm. We ordered a neonatal transport incubator that will allow medics to transport infant patients safely in cases of evacuation or relocation to a different hospital.
The neonatal set of devices that United With Ukraine delivered includes: Babypod 2 Infant Transport Device, vacuum pump, Transwarmer infant mattress X6, Airon Mini neonatal ventilator kit.
The incubator is a robust medical box, it provides safety and warmth, and allows doctors to easily attach ventilators, oxygen therapy equipment, and other medical devices in case, God forbid, a baby is injured or has difficulties breathing.
United With Ukraine helped equip a new neonatal ambulance supplied by SMART Medical Aid non-profit NGO organization with the BabyPod. The incubator was placed into the ambulance and delivered to delivered to the Regional Children's Hospital in Sumy.
We are eternally grateful for your help and donations that help save lives - a cause Yana Rykhlitska was so passionate about.
3 months before her passing, Yana recorded this video for the United with Ukraine organization in order to spread awareness and raise more funds.
